Answers:

Why should I choose Dan-Wood over other timber frame house builders?
Because, unlike our competitors, Dan-Wood offers a truly turn-key solution to home building. As the purchaser, you are responsible for a relatively small part of the process – just the foundation slab, services and site amenities. In addition, from the moment our team arrives on site, the house will be watertight within 3 days and finished in 8-10 weeks, ready to move in. You will not be required to project manage or even come on-site if you don’t want to!
In addition, because of our straightforward pricing system, there are no hidden extras making your budgeting easier and with no surprises.
Also our houses are thermally efficient and incorporate high quality finishes as standard.

How do I know these technologies actually work?
Timber frame houses are not a new concept – in fact, some of the most revered buildings in the UK were built in the 16th Century using timber frames!

In fact, the majority of new build homes in both Europe and North America are built using timer-frame technology; we are just catching up in the UK.
We have a track record of over 30 years, supplying and building Dan-Wood House in Germany, Poland and across Europe, where 30-year guarantees are required.

<back

Are all Dan-Wood Houses the same?
No! We have a huge range of homes; from bungalows, chalet-style, detached, semi – detached and even terraces.
See Design and Houses for more… (please make this link to relevant page (in Benefits))

Why do we need to think about the way our houses are constructed?
Fuel prices are escalating, the world’s reserves of fossil fuels are being depleted and the planet’s rainforests are being devastated. By making changes to our homes now, we will be making our world better for future generations. In 20 years we believe everyone will have highly energy efficient houses and probably some form of wind, solar or alternative energy system – it will be the considered the norm.

What is the market value of a Dan-Wood house compared to a conventionally built house?
A finished Dan-Wood Home will be valued in exactly the same way as a conventionally built home; there is no reason why the method of build would in any way affect the re-sale value of your home. In fact, due to the technologies, high specification finishes and spacious layouts we believe our homes are worth more on the open market than a comparable conventionally built house.

What are the payment terms?
On a standard house (i.e. an in-house design with no layout changes), the terms are simple:
10% on agreement and contract signed
60% on delivery and erection of the house (5 days after arrival on site)
15% when house is watertight – this includes external finishes and roof tiles fitted. (3 weeks after arrival on site)
10% on completion of internal finishes (7-8 weeks after arrival)
5% after practical completion – usually 1 week after technicians have left site – 8-10 weeks after arrival.
If you require a bespoke design or wish to change the layout of a Dan-Wood designed house, these payment terms will alter slightly.

Won’t a timber frame house burn, or rot or become infested?
